Jerry Lewis

Jerry Lewis was raised in Nuckolls County, Nebraska on a row crop and cow-calf farm. The family operation also had backgrounding cattle. Jerry raised hogs as his FFA project. He graduated from Nelson High School and then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After two years at UNL, Jerry returned to the family farm to farm with his dad during the early to mid-1980's. He then returned to school in 1985 and graduated from UNL in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics. He also obtained his real estate license during his final year at UNL.

Jerry went to work for Ron Shonka at Shonka Real Estate in O'Neill, Nebraska after graduation. Jerry was responsible for writing appraisal reports. He then was hired by the Farm Credit System of Omaha to work as an appraiser. Jerry was a traveling appraiser working across the 4 state Omaha region. While at Farm Credit, Jerry started working on specialized appraisal projects like cattle feedlots, hog facilities, and grain elevators. Jerry became a general certified appraiser in 1993. Jerry trained the Farm Credit appraisal staff on computers when the department computerized.

Jerry met his wife, JoAnn, during his time at Farm Credit. In 1995, they moved to the Cuming County area and started their own appraisal business, Lewis Ag Company. They chose this area due to Jerry having close college friends in the Howells and Bancroft areas and the fact the area did not have a general certified appraiser. They grew the appraisal business by providing high quality appraisals and word of mouth. Lewis Ag Company specializes in doing farm, specialty agricultural (cattle feedlots, hog facilities, grain elevators, etc.) and small-town commercial appraisals. The company serves customers throughout Nebraska and occasionally in South Dakota and Iowa.
