Kansas is known for the classic Midwestern outdoor adventures that keep grown men awake at night. Southeast Kansas is where I hang my hat and it is the gateway for the Southern United States to enter the state. I currently live in rural Montgomery County and spend much of my time in the community of Independence. As a small child, a lot more time was spent in the Southern part of the Flint Hills. Later my family moved further East into the Wooded Hills region of Kansas. Pittsburg State was a home away from home as I pursued a career in education. Eight years were dedicated to teaching and six of those were spent in a 7th-grade science class. There were many rewarding moments, but always a part of me wanted to be outside! If time and money were not a part of the equation, I would spend my days fishing, hunting, and planting food plots. Deer and turkeys occupy way more real estate between my ears than they should. Work hard and play hard is the motto!
