Room to spread out, room for your animals, and a house that's ready to move into. This 3 bed, 2 bath single-level home sits on 3.51 acres in Vernon with a private well and the kind of setup most horse and hobby-farm buyers spend years putting together. There's a 2 car attached garage, a detached 1 car garage with its own carport, a hay barn, a fenced horse area with a gated corral, a chicken coop, and sheds that already have electricity. Out back, a long covered deck looks out over the property and the hills beyond. Built in 1994 with 1,355 square feet, the home is easy to keep up and comfortable year round. If you want acreage without being too far from town, this one sits less than half an hour from Show Low. Inside, the living room gets plenty of natural light from windows on several sides, and there are ceiling fans throughout. A freestanding pellet stove on its own hearth keeps things warm on cold mountain nights. Wood-look flooring runs through the main living areas. A pass-through with a counter ledge opens the living room to the kitchen, so whoever's cooking can still be part of the conversation. A slider in the dining area takes you straight out to the back deck. The kitchen is a practical galley layout with plenty of oak cabinets, a propane gas cooktop with a vent hood, a built-in oven, a dishwasher, and a stainless refrigerator. Just past the kitchen is a big laundry and utility room with more cabinets, counter space for folding, a hanging rod, and room for an extra freezer. When you live out of town and buy in bulk, that storage gets used. The primary bedroom has a mirrored closet and its own bathroom with a walk-in shower. The other two bedrooms are a good size, and one is set up as an office right now, which works well if you work from home. The hall bath has a long vanity with plenty of counter space, a skylight, and a tub/shower combo. The outside is where this property really stands out. The covered deck runs along the back of the house, with ceiling fans and string lights and plenty of room for a table and chairs. There's a covered front porch too. The back of the property is fenced into separate areas: a fenced backyard for pets, a fenced area for gardening or farming, and a fenced horse area with a gated corral. Fencing also runs along the back property lines. The hay barn, chicken coop, and sheds are spread across the acreage. Since the outbuildings already have power, it's easy to set up a workshop, tack room, or heated waterers for winter. Mature trees shade the house, and the red cinder drive leaves plenty of room to park trailers and equipment. You can see the open country and the volcanic hills all the way to the horizon. Vernon is a small, quiet community in Apache County at about 6,900 feet. It's juniper country with big skies, cool summers, and real seasons, including snow in the winter. Most people out here live on acreage, and plenty of them keep horses and livestock, so you'll fit right in. There have been working ranches here since the 1870s, and it still feels like ranch country. Younger kids attend Vernon Elementary, and older students go on to Show Low schools. Concho, St. Johns, Springerville, and Pinetop-Lakeside are all within easy reach, and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests are close by for hunting, hiking, and camping. When you need to get to town, Show Low is the hub of the White Mountains. It has grocery stores, big-box shopping, restaurants, Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center, and a regional airport. The town got its name from a card game, and the main street is still called the Deuce of Clubs. Fool Hollow Lake and Show Low Lake are both right there for fishing, kayaking, and camping. Pinetop-Lakeside, just up the road, has more trails and golf. In winter, Sunrise Park Resort is about an hour away for skiing. A lot of people drive up from the Valley every summer to get out of the heat. In Vernon, you already live here. Properties set up like this don't come up often. Cal
