This acreage may be shown incorrectly to be in Cibola County (as a result of a computer programming result) because the nearest town to the property is San Mateo which is in Cibola County. The acreage is located in McKinley County. The acreage was once part of a 160 acre homestead, the original rock home of which still stands, just outside the current known boundary lines of the acreage. The title has been well researched and is understood dating back to the homestead, and the ranch property which surrounds the original homestead came to be as a result of a spanish land grant. This history is important for understanding access and the last two miles of marginal road route to the property, requiring a four wheel drive vehicle with adequate clearance. Pertaining to the legal access this is known as a constructive easement. Evidence or proof of such is the history of use, and evidence of the same is the rock house still standing, and the records showing title to the homestead. It so happens that in the title to the property, a debt by the homesteader to Bernalillo Mercantile in an amount of around $55, the President of that business, Mr. Seligman, took ownership to the property, then his heirs, and eventually, to Philipp Merillat Corporation, for it was forfeited at a tax sale for unpaid property taxes plus a small premium. So that was the history of its title, it was native land, then made a homestead, then the homesteader lost it to a business to whom he owed around $55, then 100 acres of the original 160 was split away from the rest and to a trust which included heirs of the Seligman family, then to PMC by sale at a tax sale conducted by the State of New Mexico, then title quieted in PMC by attorneys Espinosa and Associates. There is now insurable title in the property, and there is access which is not hindered except by weather and road conditions.
