Recreation in the area is varied from seasons. During the summer months you have access to some of the best fishing from Kasilof and Coho beaches to the Kasilof river or one of the local lakes stocked by fish and game. If fishings not your thing you can beach comb or enjoy the local hiking or ATV trails. Kasliof is also home to the only horse back exclusive riding trails. Kasilof also offers several options for camping whether in a designated camp ground or on remote state or borough lands. During the winter months you can ride your snow machines along the trails and access the Caribou Hills trail systems. And of course theirs ice fishing and options for hockey.

History

Kasilof’s history is rooted in fishermen and homestead settlers populating the area.

Location

Kasilof is located approximately 14 miles from the heart of Soldotna, just under 20 miles to Kenai and under 70 miles to the famous Homer Spit. The area hospitals are in Soldotna and Homer, and an addition of medical clinics and in Keani, Ninilchik and Anchor Point as well. Many options for shopping in big box stores in both Soldotna and Kenai, which also have several local small business to choose from. The community of Kasilof has a local “Mercantile” with a quaint Cafe, a gas station with both a convenience and liquor store. Their is also a roadhouse style restaurant and lodging, several fishing lodges a museum, churches a transfer station for trash and lastly a post office.

From Kasilof head south on the Sterling Hwy to just past MP 110 take a left on Johnson Lake Rd. follow around until the road turns into Crooked creek road then continue on past the asphalt look for driveway with cones on the right.
