Own your own private island getaway perfect for camping, boating, and abundant fishing. This scenic parcel is surrounded by the Susquehanna River on all sides and boasts beautiful views of the mountains that surround the charming town of Sidney and Unadilla. It is conveniently located right off of Route 7, but with over 54 acres accessed only by boat, wading, or swimming, the privacy is absolute. Truly a bird watcher's paradise, there are all kinds of species that thrive on the river including bald eagles, ducks, and geese.ACCESS INFORMATION There are three points from which to access the island (see diagram). The best option is to park at the DEC boat launch/ fishing area and boat upstream half a mile to the island. Overnight parking is allowed! Additional access points include a small town park across from the island on one side with a parking lot (no overnight parking so an arrangement would have to be made with neighbor), and there is a farmer's field on the other side. It's possible the farmer would grant permission to park along the river bank. The island itself is wooded with clearings providing a perfect blend of privacy and open space. There are some elevated areas that would be ideal for making a permanent campsite or even building a small seasonal cabin or tree fort. There are beautiful winding water ways that run through the island so one can row/motor their boat right into the heart of the island.Nearby the towns of Sidney and Unadilla offer good local eats, the Valley View Walking Trails, the Unadilla drive-in theatre, a few local parks, among other attractions. Camp on the island over night and take a morning stroll in cute downtown Sidney to get your morning coffee! There are few river islands of this size on the Susquehanna and fewer still that can be privately purchased.
