History of the Y.O. Ranch Headquarters:

Founded in 1880 by Texas Ranger and Hill Country pioneer rancher, banker, philanthropist, Captain Charles A. Schreiner. Captain Schreiner purchased the ranch, its cattle, and the Y.O. brand from Taylor & Clements, using profits from driving over 300,000 longhorn cattle to the Dodge City railheads, from Texas. His holdings became part of a large ranching and business empire including banking, retail, wool, and livestock. In the 1950?s Charles Schreiner III, began introducing exotic wildlife species to the property, turning the ranch into a pioneering site for exotic game conservation in Texas. Over six generations, quite the legacy was created from establishing the Texas Longhorn Breeder?s Association, and a registry to revive the endangered breed, broadening revenue streams by leasing land for hunting, to the introduction of exotic wildlife herds, have earned the ranch recognition as one of the country?s earliest and most notable game ran
