Missouri is home to a large amount of farmland that's good for growing corn and other grain crops. North of the Missouri River the land is largely flat and covered with rich soil. Western Missouri is relatively flat also but includes some hills. The largest region is the Ozark Plateau which covers most of the southern half of the state. It consists of forested ridges, caves, and springs as well as the popular Ozark Mountains and the Lake of the Ozarks.
